EcoDry Cleaners Ribbon-Cutting Extravaganza

"A New Green Business for a Greener Charlottesville"

The word is out and the town is buzzing. Charlottesville's own, EcoDry Cleaners has opened its doors at 801 West Main Street, in the heart of the city. Conveniently located within walking distance from UVA and directly across from Amtrak, the local residents finally have "green dry cleaning" in their backyards. The grand opening celebration was a success and now the local company is following up with an official ribbon cutting supported by the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce, Charlottesville Office of Economic Development, and the Mayor's Office. Special guest, Vice Mayor Julian Taliaferro is scheduled to participate in the event. This event is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in front of EcoDry Cleaners.

As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to fine traditional dry cleaners for violations of hazardous waste laws, the need for environmental-friendly alternatives is becoming more evident. The processor which EcoDry Cleaners uses, does not use the hazardous chemical perchloroethylene in the dry cleaning process. As a healthier (and greener) dry-cleaning alternative, Liquid CO2 is the choice method used which is obtained as a recycled byproduct of other industrial processes. The reuse of carbon dioxide does not produce Green House Gasses.
